January
3, 2021. Hello!! My
name is Janet Huntley. I am the
Membership Chair and Treasurer of the Huntley National Association. Welcome to our blog! I will use this forum to
share interesting news that comes along that may be of interest to the Huntley
community. What is the Huntley National Association you ask?? …… Good Question!!
In 1944, a man named Royce E. Huntley, from Phoenix, New York,
wrote a newsletter titled “We, Who Are Huntleys” in hopes of bringing together
Huntleys from all over North America. After two issues, Royce said “it died of
exhaustion.” However, in the 1946 issue, he proposed holding a reunion in Old
Lyme, Connecticut, during the July 4th weekend 1947. That weekend,
more than 50 people gathered at the Rogers Lake Club House in Lyme and the
Huntley National Association was born. Since then, the Huntleys have come
together once a year to “meet nice people and make friends.” To date, more than 2800 Huntleys and their
spouses from the United States and Canada have joined the HNA…… WOW!!
So, what’s going on in the world of HNA today?? My sister, Lori, and I are busy planning the 75th Diamond Jubilee Reunion to be held on August 6-8, 2021 in Groton, CT. We have a lot of fun activities planned. It will be a most enjoyable weekend!! More information will be provided in April…. But be sure to save the date!!
We also have moved into the 21st century and have a
Facebook page.
Wait a minute, what???..... you say you are not an HNA member???
Well let’s take care of that!!
All persons, eighteen years or older, who by
birth or marriage can trace their relationship to any Huntley or Huntly who
migrated from the British Isles to North America may become a member
of the Huntley National Association.
Contact me by email and I will send you an application to join. Dues are only $10 a year and you get a spring bulletin in April and Reunion Booklet in August.
That’s it for now!!!
